Together with the cosmetics giant CLARINS and French partners, we were awarded @2.5 Million Euros to develop highly purified botanical products made with supercritical carbon dioxide fractionation (a complicated project) and test them on our sophisticated skin in the laboratory with different levels of color (phototypes). SIGNIFICANCE: to harness the power of plants and natural products to treat and enhance the skin.

The higher brands of cosmetics aim not just to create good cosmetics ingredients, but to prove that they work. Clarins wanted to harness the power of botanical ingredients, but this requires not just a particular plant species, but also new techniques to separate specific ingredients from the plants. To do this we worked with universities and companies in France with the support of the French government to develop supercritical carbon dioxide separation techniques. This is a complicated and difficult procedure but was achieved. These products were tested on the world's most sophisticated skin models developed by CTIBIOTECH in the CTISKIN programme.
